Work in Progress Update

Hello, friends! I feel like I haven’t written a blog in ages. It’s been ten days! I do apologize, but my husband surprised me with a road trip to South Carolina to celebrate my 29th birthday—and it was also my brother’s wedding—so I’ve been a bit busy. But I’m back and ready to blog!

This break resulted in a few, unexpectedly productive editing sessions for my WIP. I changed a few scenes that just weren’t working for the storyline itself and added others that were. One of those additions was rising the tension between my villain and my protagonist. I realized they were talking about each other more so than actually interacting with one another, so that had to change.

For the last couple of days, I’ve also been focusing on deepening my villain’s backstory. On Wednesday I plan to publish a blog about morally gray characters and what makes them awesome and relatable, so be on the lookout for that.

Other than that, I’m already on my third round of edits (I don’t think I’d announced that here), and I feel so much better about the manuscript. My second draft was more of a rewrite from the first draft, so this third draft is looking more like a second one. I hope that made sense!

Anyway, I hope you’re working on something that excites you! If you’re not, then I hope you’re being able to power through on whatever project it is that you’re working on.

And whatever you do, keep writing!
